Welcome to the Creignish Recreation Center

The Creignish Recreation Center (CRC) is nestled between the lower sweeps of the Creignish Mountain and the sparkling waters of St. Georges Bay. This beautiful seaside community of Creignish is 8K from the Canso Causeway on Route 19 “Celtic Coastal Trail” known as Canada’s Musical Coast with the best Sunsets on Cape Breton Island, Inverness County. Creignish and its immediate surrounds have a mixed demographic with a population of approximately 700 residents.

Where Locals work together to support each other

Creignish and the surrounding communities are hometowns of musicians Ashley MacIsaac, Natalie MacMaster, Mac Morin, Wendy MacIsaac, as well as former QMJHL hockey player Nick MacNeil, and the Creignish Dukes baseball team.

One of the Celtic Shores Coastal Trail access points is the Creignish Recreation Center which offers free public parking, washroom facilities as well as the recreation grounds. This 92K trail offers scenic views of the ocean and Creignish Mountains, fantastic for walking, running, cycling, beach walks. The surrounding community ATV and Snowmobile Clubs utilize the parking area for their excursions on the Celtic Shores Trail.

In the Summer of 2024, the CRC built a new playground and multi-purpose court for tennis, pickleball, ball hockey and basketball for everyone to enjoy!

The ball field used by the surrounding communities for practice, tournaments, and includes an outfield track for the “Creignish Tone Zone” - 10 stretch and tone stations while you walk the ballfield. (2 laps is 1km) - Come and try it! along with our outdoor adult exercise station.
